Terms &Conditions
Last updated 29 May 2026
The terms and conditions laid out below form the administrative foundation of our working . They create clear and transparent boundaries to facilitate an effective therapeutic relationship.
1. My commitment to you
Session timing and notice of changes
Therapeutic sessions are held at the same time and day each week unless previously agreed otherwise. Sessions last for 50 minutes. I will hold your time slot for you every week unless there are unexpected circumstances in which I cannot attend, and I will inform you at the earliest opportunity.
I will give advanced warnings if I am unavailable where possible. There will be no fee charged if I am unable to attend a session. I will review my fees annually and give at least two months’ notice of any fee increase.
Ethics
I will abide by the UKCP’s Code of Ethics and Professional Practice as published on the UKCP website. For EMDR work I will also abide by the EMDRUK code of ethics as published on the EMDR website. As a Transactional Analyst I am also bound by and comply with the UKATA and EATA codes of ethics as published on their websites.
Confidentiality
Our work together is confidential. This means that your name and the content of the sessions will not be discussed outside of the therapy room without your permission. There are four limitations to this:
-
Where I am required by law to make a disclose of information.
-
Where there is sufficient concern that I fear you may harm yourself and/or others (including criminal activity). Wherever possible, extension of confidentiality in the above circumstances would occur with your knowledge and consent.
-
During clinical supervision.
-
In the event of my prolonged incapacitation or death, at which time your details will be released to my professional executor to facilitate arrangement of alternative support where appropriate (see below for further details).
Session notes
Brief notes are taken after each session. Notes are anonymised to respect your confidentiality. You may ask to see these notes at any time, and I will make them available at the following session. All notes and contracts are anonymised and stored securely. Please see my Privacy Policy for more information.
Supervision
I am committed to regular and ongoing supervision of my clinical work. The purpose of supervision is for my supervisor to monitor my work and to help me to help you. To do this I will need to disclose what is discussed in our sessions. Only your first name will be used during supervision, this is to respect your confidentiality as much as possible. Supervisors are also bound by the same rules of confidentiality and professional conduct.
Ongoing training
I am committed to regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development), this is to ensure my training is up to date and that you are provided with a professional psychotherapy service. From time to time, training may impact your regular session date and time. Due notice will be given, and where possible alternative dates and times will be offered.
Maintaining a Professional Will
I will maintain a professional will with an appropriately qualified colleague appointed as my executor. In the event that I am unable to work for a prolonged period and am sufficiently incapacitated to be unable to communicate that to you myself, my professional executor will contact you to make you aware of the situation and work with you to arrange suitable alternative support where appropriate.
Insurance
I am fully insured to provide the services offered.
Fallow Leave
I take two prolonged leave periods in July and December each year, lasting a full four weeks. We will discuss these in advance and make appropriate plans to give you the confidence to managethe four week break.
2. Your commitment
Payments
Session payment is due before the start of each session. A receipt or invoice can be made available once payment has been received. Payments will be made by bank transfer unless agreed otherwise, using the details provided on your first invoice.

Where payments are covered by an employer or sponsor, you agree to pay any shortfall arising between your level of cover or sponsorship, and the cost of sessions attended.
Cancellations
You agree to attend all sessions unless unexpected circumstances arise. Missed appointments and cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment are charged at a full fee. Cancellations made with more than 48 hours’ notice are not charged. In the event of a cancellation, it may be possible that I can offer you another timeslot in the same week for that week only. However, this is not always possible and may incur an administration fee.
Clinical Responsibility
You are aware that the psychotherapy provided is a talking therapy aimed to work through your emotional and psychological processes. However, your medical or psychiatric care (if applicable) remains the responsibility of your G.P./ Mental health team.
Appropriate conduct
You agree not to attend any sessions nor be on the premises whilst under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs. You are also made aware that any aggressive or unacceptable behaviour may result in the immediate termination of therapy.
Limitations of support
You are aware that support is provided within the therapy sessions only. Contact outside your scheduled appointments is limited to matters of administration.
Notice of termination
This contract remains ongoing until I am given notice to end the contract, or I give you notice of the contract ending. I will give a minimum of three weeks’ notice to end the agreement, and request that you do the same.
Online Psychotherapy
Where you have requested online psychotherapy, or psychotherapy moves online for any reason, sessions will be held via online video conferencing platform of telephone, as agreed with me. When moving to online psychotherapy, it remains your responsibility to secure a quiet, uninterrupted space for the duration of the session, in order that you can speak freely without any concerns for lack of privacy. You also acknowledge that insofar as no digital technology can be 100% guaranteed, I cannot accept responsibility in the unlikely event of a breach in the security protocol of the online platform we agree to use.
